The day started out very rainy but the clouds broke and the sun started shining just as we arrived for their outdoor ceremony at the gorgeous Stonebrook Golf Club! The day couldn't have been more perfect for the two of them! :)
We scurried off for some fun portraits away from the hustle and bustle of the guests....some alone time was necessary! :)
Their live band was killer entertainment for the guests as they danced the night away and celebrated with the new couple! OH---and on the other side of the room Griffin, Joel's son, had collected every person's place card and was making a tower......people were "ooooo"ing and "awweeeee"ing at his skills all night. :)
The stars were bright and beaming so we HAD to get outside for one last shot of the night....

oh my gosh, emily, he is super cute! love him!

I go way back with Jessica and recently we have reunited our friendship because we have both been through the loss of a parent and have found kinship in one anothers story....so, needless to say this day was extremely special for me to be a part of! :) Jessica and Chad laugh together, they have fun together but more importantly they are undoubtedly madly in love for one another and it is obvious. The way they look into each other's eyes and smile at one another is perfect and perfectly shares who they are to the other one....it was great to catch glimpses of this as the ceremony unfolded.
The venue offers an eclectic, lodge-antique feel with amazing food, staff and decor and it was just the perfect place for Jessica and Chad to exchange vows.
"CAN YOU BELIEVE I AM GETTING MARRIED TODAY!?!?! WAAAHHHH!!!"
The reception was intimate, personal and simply beautiful....along with some of the funniest toasts I have ever heard....
Beautiful pics from an amazing, lovely day! Thanks Emily!!
(10. 2.09 @ 10:08PM)Wow Emily.....You captured it.....Beautiful!!

The bike that is in so many photos has a story behind it---it is actually Jessica's engagement ring. Joel took her on a walk/ride one day and proposed with this custom bike that he had made especially for her....he even included their initials as husband and wife on the bottom of it, so needless to say it had to appear on the wedding day! :)
And isn't she just radiant?!?!
This one is my favorite from the day! :)
And they headed out to their wildly eclectic and family friendly bowling alley reception!
Jessica and Joel's wedding was intimate, cute and sooo inspiring to be a part of. I wish you two many years of riding bikes together in the sunset! :)wow. simple. beautiful. LOVE the colors

So I couldn't resist sharing what a RAD time I had with Dena and Doug yesterday; although the weather's moody nature turned from sunny to hurricane-esque to sunny again I wouldn't have wished my time with them any other way! After some down-town fun, we ventured out to find the *best* fields in St. Croix county and came upon some pretty happinin' places.
Doug and Dena not only sport the mere perfection of vintage awesomeness but they are down-right in love...they share their love for fashion and design together along with heir smiles that bring a contagious sense of humor! The items they brought along to the shoot were perfect and I only wished that we would have had more sunlight to run around in....

An old school portrait for the fireplace someday....
They happen to hold special meaning to Doug and Dena too. Doug had one before they were married and Dena had some jealousy for how awesome it was; so when Doug proposed to Dena he decided to do it in an antique store where the ring happened to be around the top stem of a happy apple. So now they each have a happy apple of their own! How cute is that?!?!?!
We found this rusty bike by the side of the road...I couldn't resist! So, what better spot than to share a few cokes with each other?!? :)
Oh gosh....Dena and Doug you guys are unbelievable vintage rockstars! I wish to channel some of your awesomeness into me! :)
EMILY! You are amazing! Thanks for getting these up so quickly! WE love you! Can't wait to see the rest, you know i'm buying a HUGE frame for one of these!
(09.28.09 @ 3:32PM)oooh, jealousy :) very awesome!
(09.28.09 @ 5:12PM)Dena and Doug -- WOW!!! I guess I need to keep an eye out for more vintage chairs for you in special colors -- I like the happy apple story. Will you forward this to Grama Bea? -- Did you know she is the most creative person of us all, where all the creativity came from on the Swenson side. Love, Pam
(09.28.09 @ 5:58PM)Wow! Grama Bea needs to see these -- she is where all the creativity came from on the Douglas side!!
(09.28.09 @ 6:00PM)wow, this post is exploding with cuteness! I LOVE that black and white.... it's stunning! ( both the photography and the subjects! ) I also LURVE the bike and coke pictures!

Probably one of the cutest families in the neighborhood, The Olson family stole my heart last week with their little Cooper, who just turned one! Dusty and Lexie are downright fun parents that LOVE to play with Cooper and make him laugh until his belly hurts. We spent some time running around their backyard while Cooper kept exploring the ants, sand, sticks and fresh leaves that had fallen to the ground---he was mesmerized!Cooper's blue eyes and blond spiky hair are enough to steal anyone's attention from across the room---and the best part is that he has 2 perfectly cute little teeth that are coming in front and center! They are sooooo adorable when he smiles to show off his new pearly whites AND dimples! *sigh* :)
Crack me up!
My nephew Cooper is so darn cute and I don't know how you could have made him even cuter...but you did, you are perfection!

(10. 6.09 @ 8:08PM)You were right... the reflection of the couple and stars are OUT OF THIS WORLD! You are a great photographer!
(10. 6.09 @ 10:23PM)WOW, the pictures are so wonderful!! I have to agree, this last one NEEDS to be blown up to poster size, framed and hung proudly, its fantastic.
(10. 6.09 @ 10:29PM)I also agree, I can't think of a couple who deserves to be together more than Joel and Shauna. The little story you wrote to go along with the pictures was perfect.
Thanks for being a great table crasher at the reception!
