My name is Emily.

I love people in love.

I cry at every wedding.

I own a striped umbrella. Everyone should.

I love my pug. His name is Edward.

I dream of having a house with enough closet hooks for my scarves and hats.

Laughing is great.

I believe there is nothing better than a day with the people you love.

And I absolutely love to take photos.

And this is my blog. Expect to see people in love, expect to laugh and read, and expect to see what I love and why I love it! Welcome to my blog. I am glad you are here.

Who doesn't love a family with an outdoorsy, energetic little 5 year old boy and a sweeter-than-pie little blondie of a 3 year old girl!?!?! Well, you would be crazy not to LOVE the Bristol family----I was able to hang out with them and see just how unbelievably fun their kids (and family) are! Josiah kept us laughing while Kira's sweet smirks shined through the whole time we were shooting...

I knew that we were going to have a good time when Josiah took it upon himself to make faces at Kira in an attempt to get her to smile....as you can see she wanted NONE OF IT at the time. :)
The-Bristols-family.jpg
Kira eventually warmed up and I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with both her and Josiah's little personalities as they started to shine........
The-Bristols-041.jpg The-Bristols-bothkids.jpg The-Bristols-026.jpg
If you can't tell, Josiah is describing how big the fish he caught the other day was; "It was THIIIISSSSS BBIIIGGGGG MOM!!"
The-Bristols-046.jpgThe things you do to make a little girl laugh......

And HELLOOOO, how can you not take a Father/Son photo without it including the GUN RACK! Check out these fine young men.........

I caught up with Max and his Mommy a few weeks ago for some 10 month portraits of the little guy.....who is already WALKING, which you will see in the photos! He was Mr. smilie and when he smiled his face lit up with his big baby blue eyes. It seems like overnight he grew up and through the whole session he was smiling, clapping, and dancing to the sound of his Momma's voice. :)

Max-9-months-003.jpg Max-9-months-015.jpg
He was so funny trying to tear this piece of grass in 1/2.........look at those cheeks!

And let's just talk about how every little boy NEEDS a little sweater vest like Mr. Max......and striped nontheless..... *sooooo cute*

I had such a fun time giggling with the little man. Max, I can not wait to play with you in the leaves this fall! :)

...to a cure for breast cancer!

I was a part of one HECK of an AMAZING EVENT this weekend! Me, along with 2500 other men and women, walked 60 miles through Minneapolis and St. Paul to make a darn bold statement that we believe that there can be a world without breast cancer. Our team of 7 amazing women, dressed in head to toe pink, got up bright and early and started our journey last Friday to make our mark on history.

2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-015.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-013.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-044.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-118.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-pin.jpg
I didn't really fathom how FAAARRRR 60 miles really is. UM.....SIXTY MILES......it is FAR! Very far.

BUT the thing that inspired me throughout the event was the amount of support that came out to not only cheer us on but thank us for walking. At each cheering station and each family on the side of the road dancing, clapping or handing out candy I started to realize the mass community that comes together to not only participate in the event but support it. I got teary-eyed seeing the Dad's holding their kids (dressed in pink) giving everyone high fives as the walkers passed, and the Cancer survivors on the side of the road with expressions of gratitude for helping them fight, and the groups of families that came together to support their loved one who are representing their heritage and generations to come. Gol, it was just awesome!!!
2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-127.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-che.jpg
2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-066.jpg

My favorite group of guys on the event was a handful of bikers (that wore bras on their head the whole weekend mind you) and rode the course up and down revving their engines as they passed the walkers to get us all riled up to keep walking! They just made my weekend!!! :)
 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-086.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-bik.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-034.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-040.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-060.jpg

We stayed in a lovely mobile city of pink. With inspiration surrounding us we ate amazing food, stayed in tiny pink tents (and froze our buns off), and bonded while popping our blisters through the night! :)
2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-032.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-022.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-108.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-102.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-103.jpg
And each night as the last walker entered camp we raised a flag together with a statement that we were ONE DAY CLOSER!
2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-020.jpgWe all nearly peed our pants walking through the cheering stations and seeing people's creativity with signs and posters....
2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-011.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-071.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-078.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-126.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-138.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-143.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-139.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-144.jpg

"We walk because we must.
We are strong because the journey demands it.
Together in body and united in spirit we lay down our footsteps for this generation and the next. This is our promise: a world without breast cancer!"

This is why I walked:
2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-pho.jpg
As we made it through mile 59 and mile 60 and then ended up at the capital, I couldn't help but think that we were not only making our mark on history but honoring the people who fought bravely, boldly and would be so gosh-darn proud of every step I took this weekend and everything that it stood for...Mom, Dad and Deb........
2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-162.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-169.jpg 2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-157.jpg
Despite our blisters....2009-Breaat-Cancer-3day-fee.jpg

and aches and pains I would do it all over again. The reality is that my pains will be gone before her cancer is and cancer is an everyday battle while I only walked for 3 days.....I saw a sign that put it plainly BLISTERS DON'T NEED CHEMO!

So....next year....2010 anyone????

absolutely amazing! I will do it again and again and again...until breast cancer is no more!! despite the blisters and the pain of walking 60 miles I can get up the next day and look forward to many more to come, when there are others that can't. that alone is enough reason for me to raise the money and walk, because there is no other option! because i want to make a difference.
and that little girl in the pink sunglasses that is my reason to walk! i love you Bean!!

Your blog is amazing and does a wonderful job of capturing the 3-day experience. This was my first 3-day experience and I too walked in the Twin Cities. It was amazing and often, I struggle to relate what the experience is feels like to others. I do have a question...some of my photos did not turn out. I was using my sister's camera and apparently wasn't taking photos at times I thought I was. I was curious if you have a link to a site where friends could purchase copies of your 3-day photos? If so, I would love to have that link. I hope to put together (with help from a good friend) a slide show of sorts to share with my friends/family/donors. Thanks for any help!

Last week some local photogs and I went with about 6 GORGEOUS models in STUNNING dresses out and about in the evening to bomp around Minneapolis....our goal was to play, make good images and have some wild fun together! And that is exactly what we did.....I stuck with the amazing and gorgeous Tasha and Lisa for the evening which *I loved* because they were not only BEAUTIFUL but got the giggles on camera more than a few times which turned into a laughing fest under the street lights of Minneapolis!

Oh---and PS for anyone out there planning a wedding, Lisa is one ROCK STAR COORDINATOR that will make your event awesome, perfect and the talk of the town. So before you get overwhelmed with wedding planning, just call her and she'll pull out her bag of tricks!

We started out with the lovely Tasha near the Minneapolis Photo Center building. OH---and MAJOR PROPS to all of you lovely hair and make-up woman that "did up" our models for the night because they looked high GLAM and oh-so-lovely!!!!!! I mean, check out Tasha's rock-star hair piece........

Lisa was ultra fun because her brown eyes are 90000% amazing, especially with THAT look that she gives you....owweeeeee

Now back to the stunning, awesome and oh-so-beautiful Ms. Tasha.....this one is my favorite of her from the night....
August-model-shoot-061.jpg August-model-shoot-tasha.jpg August-model-shoot-069.jpg
A lovely night shot of the skyline from a Minneapolis appartment building terrace.....only one portion of this is focused and I just *might* have to print a gigantor 30x40 for our family room in the basement....whadda think??
August-model-shoot-071.jpg August-model-shoot-073.jpg August-model-shoot-075.jpg
Now....THATS A WRAP!!! Thank you ladies...you were lovely, you were perfect and I had so much fun. A successful night to me........
